Inspection & YDE Certificates
Comprehensive inspection of your electrical installation, preparation of the necessary plans, and issuance of the Installer's Declaration of Compliance for residential, commercial, and other premises.
What is YDE?
The Installer's Responsible Declaration (YDE) is the official document in which the qualified electrician declares—following inspection and measurements—that the electrical installation is safe and fit for use.
The YDE is accompanied by the required inspection protocols and electrical diagrams and is submitted to DEDDIE in accordance with the prescribed procedure.
When is a YDE (Certificate of Electrical Installation) required?
New electricity connection
For connecting a new residence, business premises, or other facility to the electricity grid.
Re-examination due to expiration
Each YDE (Licensed Electrician's Declaration) has a specific validity period. Before it expires, a new inspection of the installation and the issuance of a new declaration are required.
Change of owner or user
In certain cases, a valid Electrical Installation Certificate (YDE) may be required upon a change of user, tenant, or ownership status of the installation.
Change of use of the premises
When a residence is converted into a commercial space, or when the activity and electrical loads change substantially.
Modification or expansion of an installation
Following a major electrical renovation, an extension, the installation of a new distribution board, the addition of new high-power loads, or other significant changes.
Request by HEDNO
When a Licensed Electrician's Declaration (YDE) is required as part of a procedure such as a new connection, a power upgrade, or another modification to the supply.
What happens when problems are detected?
The inspection is not merely a formality. If deficiencies are identified during the on-site assessment or measurements, we provide you with a detailed explanation of the necessary corrective actions.
The work may include:
– replacement of an old or unsuitable distribution board,
– installation or replacement of a residual current device (RCD),
– rectification of grounding issues,
– replacement of worn cables or components,
– separation of overloaded circuits,
– proper circuit protection (fusing/circuit breakers),
– labeling and organization of the distribution board.
Once the necessary work is completed, a re-inspection is conducted; if the installation is deemed safe, the issuance of the Electrical Installation Inspection Report (YDE) proceeds.
